ROCKY MOUNT – Ridgecroft School continued their impressive run through 2011 here Monday.

The Rams’ varsity soccer team knocked off 2-A Rocky Mount Academy by a 4-0 count to improve to 9-1 for the season.

Despite the comfortable margin of victory, the Rams did not have their best outing of the season, according to Head Coach Aron Martin.

“The looks on the guy’s faces at half time as well as after the match told me they knew we didn’t have our sharpest performance,” Martin said. “I thought we had a letdown after Greenfield and we have to learn to be consistent in our efforts.

“Good teams come up with good results,” he added. “Great teams perform consistently and that’s what we need.”

The Rams got started with a goal from senior Michael Byrum, who put the ball in the back of the net thanks to an assist from Cas Castelloe.

Before the first half came to an end, the Rams had scored again. This time Ridgecroft got a goal from Shaheim Seepersad who received an assist from Drey Chrysostomou.

In the second half, the Rams added another pair of goals.

Julian Becker had an unassisted goal to push the margin to 3-0 before Chrysostomou dribbled past defenders and scored for the final margin of victory.

“On a positive note, I do feel we have the personnel, the heart and the determination that will allow us to rise to most any occasion we face,” Martin said. “We’re going to continue to train hard and, hopefully, put ourselves in a position to vie for a state championship.”
