Ridgecroft out to 4-0 start

AHOSKIE – The Lady Rams are out of the gate well during the 2011 volleyball season.

Ridgecroft has rolled off four straight season-opening wins as they won in three non-league matches and one conference contest.

The Lady Rams opened the season at Bethel Christian Academy where they garnered a four-set victory over the Lady Eagles.

Ridgecroft opened the match with a 25-20 victory, but Bethel came back to win the second set 25-19. The Lady Rams then finished off the contest with a 29-27 win in the third set and a 25-20 triumph in the fourth.

The second game of the season saw Ridgecroft on the road at Hertford County High School. The Lady Rams won that matchup in straight sets, topping the Lady Bears 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17 to stay undefeated.

Bethel returned the trip to Ridgecroft in the Rams’ third outing of the season and again it was Ridgecroft who came away with a four-set victory.

As in the first contest, Ridgecroft garnered a 25-15 win in the first set. They then won the second set by a count of 27-25.

The Lady Eagles garnered a win in the third set by a count of 25-23, but Ridgecroft came back to secure a 25-23 win in the final set as they improved to 3-0.

Ridgecroft then claimed a win in their Tarheel Independent Conference opener, downing Pungo Christian Academy in five sets.

The Lady Rams won the opener 25-19, but Pungo came back and took the next two sets. The Lady Raiders won 25-19 and 25-12 to take a two sets to one lead.

Ridgecroft, however, wasn’t to be denied. The Lady Rams won set number four by a 25-17 count and then claimed a 15-7 win in the tiebreaker to improve to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Over the course of the same time, the Lady Rams have earned a 2-1 mark in the junior varsity matchups.

Ridgecroft beat Bethel Christian Academy 25-21 and 25-20 in the season-opener and then defeated the Lady Eagles in a three-set thriller. Ridgecroft won 25-17, 18-25 and 15-11.

The winning streak ended, however, when the Lady Rams entered Tarheel Independent Conference play. They dropped a tough three-setter to Pungo Christian Academy.

The Lady Raiders won by counts of 25-23, 21-25 and 15-9.
