AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School didn’t come away with a win Wednesday.

The Lady Rams did, however, give Head Coach Aron Martin their best performance of the season.

“Everybody played today and everyone contributed,” Martin said. “I’m supremely proud of their efforts.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted, but it was the effort and execution we wanted,” the coach added.

Wayne Country Day, who had beaten Ridgecroft 7-0 in their first meeting, edged Ridgecroft 2-0 Wednesday.

“We had some great defensive plays,” Martin said. “Haley Rivera and Brice Harrison anchored our defense.”

Rivera had an excellent day in goal and made several saves while Harrison played well in the middle defense area and also helped start offensive attacks from her post.

In addition, the Rams got excellent play from up front by Mary-joe Harrell, Hennie Larabee and Miller Bryant.

“They were tireless workers,” he said. “They had their hands full with two of the best Wayne Country Day defenders, but did all they could.

“It was one of those games when we had chances, but we were a bit unlucky at time,” Martin added. “Wayne Country Day capitalized on the chances they created.”

The loss dropped the Rams to 6-7 for the season.
