Rams earn first win

BELHAVEN – Ridgecroft School earned its first victory of the season here last week.

The Rams defeated Pungo Christian Academy 5-4 to claim their first baseball victory and earn a spotless 1-0 mark in the Tarheel Independent Conference.

Woody Lowe pitched four innings for Ridgecroft striking out three for the win while Austin Britton worked the final three innings, striking out five and recording his first save of the season.

“Woody and Austin did a great job on the mound,” Ridgecroft second-year skipper Brandon Hodges said. “The young guys in the lineup carried us today. We just have to keep working hard.”

In addition to his work on the mound, Lowe was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored to pace Ridgecroft at the plate.

Matthew Judge was 2-for-3 for the Rams and Tyler Jones checked in at 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Austin Brinkley was 1-for-3 for the day.

Ridgecroft improved to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the TIC.
