Rams even record

TERRA CEIA – Ridgecroft School evened its overall record here last Friday.

The Rams knocked off Terra Ceia Christian School 40-29 in a Tarheel Independent Conference contest to move to 5-5 for the season. The Rams are 4-1 in the TIC.

Ridgecroft jumped out to an early lead, taking a 12-6 advantage after one quarter. From there, they led 17-11 at halftime and held a 29-19 edge heading into the final quarter.

Austin Britton led the charge for Ridgecroft, pouring in 20 points as the only person in double digits.

“Austin has carried us the last couple of games,” second-year Ridgecroft basketball boss Brandon Hodges said. “The team is getting better and that is what we need to continue on being successful.”

Michael Byrum added nine points for the Rams while Ryan Beggs had four. Rounding out the scoring were Kinchen Taylor (3), Cas Castelloe (2) and Nathan Pearce (2).

Wayne Harrell led Terra Ceia with nine points.

In junior varsity action, Ridgecroft claimed a 35-19 victory for their first win of the season.

“This was our first win of the season and these kids deserve it,” Hodges said. “They work hard every day in practice and they have improved a lot since the start of the season. I’m very proud of them.”

John Thomas Taylor led the Rams with eight points while Blake Outlaw chipped in six. Thomas Riddick, Nathan Askew and Brendan Steiner added four points each for the Ridgecroft.

Rounding out the scoring were Cade Quattlebaum (3), Jay Lane (3), Tyler Jones (2) and Cameron Sykes (1).

The win boosted the JV Rams to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the TIC.
