AHOSKIE – The top seed in the tournament calls the Mike Bryant Soccer Field home.

Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), the Ridgecroft Rams earned the top seed in this year’s North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association 1-A soccer playoffs.

The Rams finished the regular season 17-1 and went a perfect 10-0 inside the Coastal Plain Independent Conference to earn that slot.

Ridgecroft’s top competitor is defending state champion Greenfield School. The Knights finished the regular season 13-10 and earned the number two ranking in the state.

While the Rams eventually may have to contend with Greenfield, their first order of business is square off with a Roanoke-Chowan rival as they meet number 16 seed Lawrence Academy.

The two will play on the Mike Bryant Soccer Field at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Greenfield will meet number 15 Waccamaw Academy.

Rated third in the state tournament will be Faith Christian School (11-7-2) and seeded number four is Burlington Christian Academy (7-9). Faith will meet number 14 Elon School in the first round while Burlington squares off with Oakwood School.

The fifth seed is Shannon Forest Christian School and they will host number 12 Statesville Christian School.

Rated sixth is Trinity School of Durham. They will meet number 11 United Faith while seventh-ranked Trinity Academy of Raleigh will square off with The Epiphany School, who is seeded tenth.

Number eight is Davidson Day School and they will open tournament play against number nine Wayne Christian School.
