WILSON – Ridgecroft School found a way to win again.

The Rams’ soccer team traveled to Greenfield School Friday night and edged the home team 1-0.

“It was a highly contested match,” Ridgecroft Head Coach Aron Martin said. “Emotions were high and both teams played very hard.”

The difference maker was a Drey Chrysostomou goal midway through the first half. Chrysostomou scored from 25 yards out on a ball that curled into the right corner.

The Rams then played solid defensively to preserve the win. That effort was spearheaded by Landon Larabee, Austin Britton, Nathan Pearce and Ben Newbern.

“They locked it down in the back,” Martin said.

The coach was also pleased with the midfield play of Ryan Beggs, Aaron Rock and Max Boone. He said midfielder Daniel Early may have had the match of his young career.

Up front, Michael Byrum played through injury and Chrysostomou gave a solid performance.

The win boosts the Rams to a perfect 7-0 inside the Coastal Plain Independent Conference and ups their overall record to 13-1.
