Bethel boys win

ASKEWVILLE – Win number 14 was recorded Tuesday night.

The Bethel Christian Academy Eagles won their 14th game in 18 starts Tuesday, defeating Victory Christian School 62-52 in a non-conference outing.

Shane Tripp poured in 30 points for the Eagles and completed his double-double with 14 rebounds. He added nine steals in the contest.

Kyle Freeman was also in double digits for Bethel, checking in with 12 points. Freeman added four assists, three steals and a trio of rebounds.

Leading the defensive charge for the Eagles was Daniel Feher, who grabbed 11 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end. He added two blocks during the contest to go with eight points.

Marky Palmer had six points for Bethel and chipped in eight boards, five of which came on the defensive end of the floor. He added a block, a steal and three assists.

Kevin Johnson also had an excellent night, pitching in four points but leading the team with four blocks. He also had two steals, one assist and a rebound.

Rounding out the scoring was Trey Hoggard, who had two points for Bethel.

The Eagles trailed 16-10 after one quarter, but Bethel outscored their visitors 21-9 in the second period to take a 31-25 lead into the intermission.

Bethel then took a 13-9 advantage in the third quarter and the teams scored 18 points each in the final stanza.

The win boosted Bethel to 14-4 heading into Friday’s rematch with Calvary Baptist. The two teams have split thus far this year.
