AHOSKIE – Two road improvement projects scheduled for here beginning late next week will cause traffic congestion.

Rose Brothers Paving announced they will perform upgrades on NC 561 (First Street) and Memorial Drive (US 13).

The 561 project is first on the schedule. Rose Brothers work crews will initially mill the road from the NC 11 stoplight (near the Ahoskie Inn) to the stoplight at Academy Street (US 13). That part of the project is expected to begin on Thursday, April 17 and end the following day. Fresh asphalt will be laid on that stretch of road on Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22.

The Memorial Drive (US 13) project begins with milling a short section (from the stoplight at the hospital south to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive) of that busy highway on April 21-22. Paving will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23-24.

The work on Memorial Drive includes the bridge over the railroad.

An official with Rose Brothers Paving said both projects will require lane closures which will lead to traffic delays. Alternate routes around both work zones are strongly suggested.
