AHOSKIE – Front Porch Living, a lifestyles magazine published quarterly by Roanoke-Chowan Publications, enters its eighth year with another issue dedicated solely to those who live and work within the local four-county area.

The Fall – 2017 edition features an article on a new nano brewery that recently opened for business in downtown Ahoskie. The creation of Dr. Lou Velazquez, Quick Trigger Brewing Company is located within his wife’s (Brenda) business – Mug Shotz on Main Street. Be sure to check out how Dr. Lou’s “hobby” turned into a popular new business.

Also featured in the Fall edition is a tribute to the work ethic of Dotsie Dunlow, a mainstay for nearly 50 years at the Little Golden Skillet in Windsor.

Visit with a Gates County family whose love of equine competition has brought them national and worldwide attention. The Lane family competes on the National Reining Horse Association circuit and travels to events up and down the East Coast. The youngest family member recently competed with Team USA at a competition held in Switzerland.

And, did you know there are two US Navy vessels that are named in honor of a person and a place in Hertford County? Discover the answers in the current edition of Front Porch Living.

If being physically fit is part of your lifestyle, then check out a story on the Northampton County Recreation Department and all they have to offer.

Front Porch Living takes its name from the easy lifestyle of the local four-county area. It is solely the work of the same people that bring you the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Gates County Index, r-cnews.com, The Shopper, and The Portal, a daily e-mail.

This marks the 29th “Front Porch Living” magazine. The inaugural edition was released in late November of 2010.

Copies of “Front Porch Living” are distributed at over 100 locations throughout the four-county area….places where people gather on a routine basis; medical facilities, restaurants, businesses, chamber of commerce offices, county/municipal government offices, hair salons, etc. They are also available at the Roanoke-Chowan Publications office, located at the intersection of Main Street and Catherine Creek Road in downtown Ahoskie.
