‘Listen to the Music!’

If it’s February, then it’s time for Crossroads.

And, this year, it also means a chance to win $200.

Roanoke-Chowan Publications announces the release of Crossroads – 2015. This annual publication – which inserts into each Wednesday edition of the Gates County Index and each Saturday edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald – publishes throughout the month of February.

Each year, Crossroads centers on a particular topic. 2015 is no different as this year’s theme is “Listen to the Music.”

The editorial staff of Roanoke-Chowan Publications has sought out various groups and individuals in the local area that enrich the lives of everyone through their brand of music.

Whether it’s Gospel, Rock, Country, Rap, Beach, Oldies, or Pop (top 40), everyone enjoys relaxing, or kicking up their heels, to their favorite genre of music. There’s even a feature that lists the top-10 favorite songs of all time by our readers. You can send your top-10 list (song name and artist name) along with a photo of yourself and your hometown to cal.bryant@r-cnews.com. The names of those submitting their top-10 lists will be placed in a hat and one will be randomly selected to win dinner for two ($50) at a local restaurant.

Week #1 of Crossroads, inserted inside today’s edition, features a local man who has served as Minister of Music for 75 years at area churches; or read about the Eyes of Emiline, a popular family threesome who are making headway into their brand of music; if you like Beach Music, then check out the story on the award-winning Steve Owens & Summertime; or learn how a Gates County man found his inner peace by learning how to play the dulcimer.

It’s all inside today’s Week #1 of Crossroads, as is a chance to win $200. Today, and over the three ensuing weeks, be sure to participate in the “Name That Tune” contest. Each week there will be one clue given to identity a mystery song. Put your thinking caps on and use the clues to identify that song by its proper title. All correct entries will become eligible for a drawing where one winner will receive $200.
