JACKSON – A disturbing national trend involving lewd electronic images has hit locally, resulting in one arrest.
Quinton Terrell Turner, 25 of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested late last week on the charge of Disseminating Obscenity.
His arrest stems from a case worked by Northampton County Sheriff’s Lt. Bo Deloatch. On April 27, Deloatch received a report that obscene photos were sent by cell phone to a student enrolled in a Northampton County school. The victim received the message on their cell phone via “KIK” and Instagram account messages while at school.
During Deloatch’s investigation, the victim’s sister recognized items of furniture in the background of the electronic photos and was able to name a suspect. Armed with that information, Deloatch obtained warrants on Turner, who was arrested May 1 by NCSO Deputy William James.
Turner was held under a $5,000 bond and made his first appearance yesterday (Monday) in Northampton County District Court.
