Juvenile charged in stabbing

SEVERN – A juvenile here is held in secured custody and will answer to charges that he allegedly was involved in a stabbing.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to South Street in Severn about a stabbing. Deputy Travis Turner, Lieutenant Jason Boone and Conway Police Chief Billy Duke where the first responding units to arrived and they found the victim had be cut in the arm by a 15-year-old juvenile.

Deputy Turner spoke with the victim about the incident, learning that the victim and the juvenile had gotten into a verbal argument that led up to the juvenile pulling out a knife and cutting the him.

Northampton County EMS and Conway-Severn Rescue Squad treated the victim at his residence, but he refused to be transported to the hospital.

Turner, Boone and Duke located the juvenile suspect at his residence and took him into custody without incident. Deputies also recovered the weapon used in the assault.

Northampton County Juvenile Services was contacted and a secure custody and petition were obtained on the juvenile.  The juvenile was petitioned to court for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. The juvenile was placed into secured custody until a hearing on Monday to determine if secured custody is still needed.
