Shooter sought

AHOSKIE – The Ahoskie Police seek the identity of a suspect involved in a Sept. 29 shooting that left the victim hospitalized.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh reported that at approximately 6:10 a.m. Sunday, an unidentified person shot at the victim multiple times with a semi automatic handgun. The victim was struck numerous times about his body. Evidence was collected at the scene at E. Hayes Street and N. Catherine Creek Road.

“The suspect was reportedly in an unknown vehicle; then the suspect exited the vehicle to continue shooting at the victim. It is unknown as to how many people were in the vehicle,” Fitzhugh said.

The suspect fled off in a dark colored vehicle, purple or burgundy in color.

Meanwhile, the victim was airlifted to a regional hospital and is listed in stable condition.

“At this time no other information has been given to the officers nor to the investigators,” Fitzhugh added.
