COMO – A Como couple found themselves in jail following a domestic situation at their home.

On Thursday, Hertford County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Queen Esther Jordan, 49, and Wendell Futrell, 61, after a domestic altercation resulted in Futrell being stabbed with a butcher knife.

According to Sheriff Juan Vaughan, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Sgt. Allen Archer responded to 110 Statesville Road in reference to a male being stabbed.

“When Sgt. Archer arrived Wendell Futrell advised him his girlfriend Queen Jordan had stabbed him with a butcher knife,” Vaughan said.

Futrell suffered a knife wound to his shoulder and was transported by Hertford County EMS to Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

Jordan was taken into custody and charged with assault inflicting serious injury. She was taken to the Hertford County Jail where she was given no bond.

Vaughan said at 11:25 the same night, Deputy Issaii Williams took Futrell into custody after the stabbing victim was released from the hospital.

Futrell was charged with assault on a female and taken to the Herford County Jail where he was placed with no bond.

Vaughan said the charge stems from Jordan being struck in the head with an unknown object during the same incident, causing a small laceration on her head.

Vaughan said Jordan and Futrell made their first appearances in court Friday where they were given a bond of $2,000 each.
