CONWAY — A group of students here found themselves in hot water after they imbibed in alcohol at school.

On Thursday at approximately 8:45 a.m. Conway Police Chief Billy Wayne Duke responded to Conway Middle School. Duke said school staff had received information about possible suspicious activity.

Upon investigating, Duke discovered a student brought the alcohol already mixed in a Welch’s Grape Juice bottle.

Duke said at some point during the morning that the student gathered with three others in the bathroom where they imbibed in the drink.

“The bottle was given to one of the other students who was caught in possession of it,” he said.

Duke said two of the students were 12-year-olds and the others 13-year-olds. All were male.

Due to their ages, Duke said he could not release the names of the students. He said the information will be forwarded to the juvenile division which will handle the case.
