AHOSKIE – Roanoke-Chowan Publications Publisher Joe Cowart has named Thadd White Managing Editor of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Gates County Index and The Shopper.

White, who began the new post earlier this week, has served as Sports Editor and Staff Writer for Roanoke-Chowan Publications since 2002. He previously has experience working at The Enterprise in Williamston and the Roanoke Beacon in Plymouth as well.

“Thadd has been in the newspaper business a long time and we believe he will be well-suited for his new role,” Cowart said. “We believe that with this change, our newsroom will only get stronger.”

White will continue to work under the direction of Roanoke-Chowan Publications Editor Cal Bryant as he expands his role in daily news activity as well as page design and layout.

“We have wanted to streamline our newsroom for several years now and Thadd’s new challenge will help us do that,” Bryant said. “He will be working more closely with me and handle more news duties while continuing to oversee our sports coverage.”

White is married to Lyndal White and has two children, Alex and Camden. The family resides in Windsor.
