Rams win seven of first eight

AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School has won seven of its first eight volleyball matches.

The Lady Rams raced out to a 7-1 start and stand 4-1 in the Tarheel Independent Conference.

Ridgecroft won match number six by downing Lawrence Academy in straight sets. The Lady Rams won by counts of 27-25, 25-21 and 25-19.

In the contest, Lawrence had an excellent outing from Chelsea Ginn who had three aces and eight total service points. Holly McNair added seven points on three aces and chipped in four kills. Hayden Thompson had seven kills and three aces for Lawrence and Emma Conigliaro had four assists and five service points.

In the next outing, Ridgecroft used four sets to handle league rival Northeast Academy. In that contest, the Lady Rams won 25-22, 25-16, 21-25 and 25-5.

In that contest, Northeast Academy’s Lindsey Bryant had 11 kills, four aces, two tips and one block. Arielle Ricks added five aces, two digs, six assists and a tip.

Dayna Barnes added five assists, two tips, an ace and a block.

Following those two wins, Ridgecroft suffered its first setback of the season to league power Hobgood Academy. The Lady Raiders won 25-16, 25-11 and 25-19.
