MERRY HILL – James Matthews pitched a shutout in goal here last week.

That performance helped Lawrence Academy earn its first soccer victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout over Pungo Christian Academy.

Cliff Matthews scored twice in the first half to give Lawrence a comfortable lead. Ryan Lilley then added a second half goal for insurance.

The victory boosted Lawrence to 1-1 for the season.
