Rams bounce back

AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School bounced back quickly.
The Lady Rams secured a 6-3 tennis win over Gates County High School Thursday to redeem a season-opening setback.
Ridgecroft won four of the six singles matches and then claimed a pair of doubles’ contest to claim the victory.
Miller Bryant remained perfect for the season as she downed Norah Tyler 8-1 in a battle of number two seeds. Third-seeded Roxie Daniels then topped Sarah Miller by a final of 8-4 for the Rams.
In the battle of number one seeds, it was Gates County’s Alyson Owens who claimed the win as she topped Ridgecroft’s Katy Futrell 8-3.
The number four seed battle saw Lady Red Baron Arnesha Eason defeat Ridgecroft’s McKenzie Quattlebaum 8-5.
Ridgecroft won the final two singles matchups as Amber Bracy beat Reshanah Walton 8-2 at number five and sixth seeded Hennie Larabee topped Jackie Wiggins 8-1.
Bryant and Futrell picked up a win in the top-seed doubles matchup as they beat Tyler and Miller by an 8-3 count.
Gates County came back to win the second seeded battle with Owens and Eason edging Daniels and Quattlebaum 8-5.
Ridgecroft won the final matchup of the day with Bracy and Elizabeth Joyner defeating Walton and Wiggins 8-6.
