AHOSKIE – A slice of summer, Roanoke-Chowan area style, is here.

Roanoke-Chowan Publications, LLC announces the July 29 release of its newest product – “Front Porch Living.” The magazine takes its name from the easy lifestyle of our local four-county area. It is solely the work of the same people that bring you the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Gates County Index, r-cnews.com and The Portal, a daily e-mail.

This marks the fourth “Front Porch Living” magazine; the inaugural edition was released in late November of last year. The July edition is 56 pages.

If you are a golfer, be sure to check out a story and photos of the 18 “must play” holes of R-C area courses.

The summer edition of “Front Porch Living” also features an article and photos of the preparation put in by local high school football teams as they inch closer to the 2011 season opener on Aug. 19.

“Sunday Best” is an interesting look at how four local women choose appropriate clothing for church. They even share a hint or two about where to find deals on clothing purchases.

Read about the efforts of a Murfreesboro couple to cope with their son’s illness, and what they’re doing to help him and millions of others inflicted with the same medical condition.

“Uniformly Different” is a feature that follows the daily duties of local women who have chosen a career in law enforcement.

Historic Hope Plantation is also featured in the July edition, as is the new Farmers’ Market in Gates County.

And be sure to check out the regular features – My Town (this edition tells the story of Sunbury in Gates County), Teen Tweet, Mama’s Kitchen and Conversation With.

Copies of “Front Porch Living” are distributed at 105 locations throughout the four-county area….places where people gather on a routine basis; medical facilities, restaurants, businesses, chamber of commerce offices, county/municipal government offices, hair salons, etc.

If you miss seeing a copy, call 252-332-2123. Subscriptions are available for only $20 per year (four issues).
