AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie man was charged last week with cocaine possession.

Antonio Nixon, 25, of 114 Mobile Park Road, located off the Ahoskie-Cofield Road, was arrested July 14 after a team of lawmen from the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the residence.

According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, the search yielded 5.5 grams of crack cocaine, a set of digital scales and clear plastic baggies. The Sheriff added that $105.59 was found in Nixon’s personal possessions.

Nixon was charged with possession with intent to sale and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond and made his first appearance on Friday, July 15 in Hertford County District Court.

Sheriff Vaughan praised the work of Investigators Dexter Hayes, John Joyner and Brian Pearce on this case. They were aided by Chief Deputy Tim Lassiter, Lt. Will Liverman, Lt. Mike Stephenson, Sgt. Allen Archer, Dep. Lloyd Parker and Dep. Isaiah Williams.

“This is another effort on our part to clean-up the sale and use of illegal drugs in Hertford County,” Sheriff Vaughan stated.
