TIC finishes golf season

Hobgood Academy claimed another Tarheel Independent Conference golf victory recently.

The Raiders scored a 382 to defeat Lawrence Academy (404), Terra Ceia Christian School (420), Ridgecroft School (452), Northeast Academy (501) and Pungo Christian Academy (526).

While the Raiders took the top team spot, it was Ridgecroft’s Virginia Lane that claimed Medalist honors with a daily low score of 79. Hobgood’s Amber Rudd and Matthew Peaden were next with scores of 85 followed by Aadil Amod’s 88.

In taking the top spot, the Raiders also got a 94 from Andrew Peaden and a 118 from Luke Koobzkesk.

Lawrence’s second place finish was led by Amod followed by a 97 from Hunter Askew, a 101 from Chance Askew and a 118 from Daniel Swain.

Terra Ceia finished third thanks to a 90 from Wayne Howell, a 100 from Austin Henderson and dual 115s from Kendall Bowen and Nathan Englehart.

In addition to Lane’s score, the Rams got a 106 from Clay Barmer and a 107 from Bobby Edwards. Not having a fourth player for the day cost Ridgecroft a final score of 160.

Northeast Academy was led by a 93 from Christian Fleetwood followed by a 112 from Dale Davis and a 136 by Matt Little. The Eagles also took a 160 for not having a fourth player.

Sixth place PCA was led by Cole Woolard’s 111 followed by Sammy Pattie’s 123 and Brenna Cordon’s 132. The Raiders also had a 160.

As the regular season ended, the TIC also announced All-Conference members for the season. Lane led the way with an average of 41.6 followed by Andrew Peaden, Rudd, Matthew Peaden, Askew and Amod.

Honorable Mention All-Conference were Fleetwood, Gage Brabble, Howell, Barmer, Bowen and Edwards.

Hobgood won the regular season with an average of 205.2 followed by a 210.2 for Lawrence and a 219.3 for Ridgecroft.
