Hobgood wins TIC golf event

LASKER – Hobgood Academy garnered another Tarheel Independent Conference golf victory here Tuesday.
The win came thanks to a 195 team score, which helped the Raiders edge Lawrence Academy (202) and Ridgecroft School (213).
Three of the standout golfers for the TIC tied for Medalist honors with Lawrence’s Aadil Amod, Ridgecroft’s Virginia Lane and Hobgood’s Andrew Peaden all shooting a 42 during the afternoon.
Matthew Peaden was two shots back at 44 while Amber Rudd was just behind that mark with a 46. Both golfers were from Hobgood.
Rounding out the Raiders’ 195 was Luke Kosbzresk, who shot a 63.
Amod was joined by scores of 51 from Hunter Askew, 53 from Gage Brabble and 56 by Chance Askew as they gained second place. Though not counted in the top four scorers which make up the team score, Daniel Swain shot a round of 67 during the day.
For the Rams, Lane was joined by Clay Barmer’s 50 for the afternoon and a 52 by Bobby Edwards while Andy Byrum shot a 69.
Coming in fourth was Terra Ceia Christian School with an overall total of 223. Kendal Bowen led the Knights with a 51 while Wayne Howell shot a 52. Thaddeus VanEssendelft and Austin Hardison rounded out the scoring with each shooting a 60. Nathan Englehart had an individual score of 62, which did not count on the team score.
Fifth place for the afternoon went to Pungo Christian Academy with a 250. Alison Vann led the way for the Raiders with a 60 while Breanna Cordon and Cole Woolard were next with a 63. Sammy Patti rounded out the scoring with a 64.
Finishing sixth was Northeast Academy. The Eagles got dual 54s from Dale Davis and Christian Fleetwood and an 81 from Matt Little. Without a fourth player, the Eagles were charged an 81 for the final slot.
The next outing for the TIC golf teams will come Tuesday when they travel to Washington Country Club for a match hosted by Pungo Christian Academy.
