Hobgood wins TIC golf event

AHOSKIE – Hobgood Academy won the Tarheel Independent Golf match held here Tuesday.
The Raiders posted a nine-hole team score of 198 to edge out Ridgecroft School and Lawrence Academy. Ridgecroft was second with a 210 total and Lawrence was third with a 211.
Virginia Lane led the Rams with a 39 during the event, the single low score of the day. Clay Barmer was second on the Ridgecroft team with a 53 while Bobby Edwards checked in with 55 and Andy Byrum added a 63.
Lawrence’s scoring was led by a 47 shot by Gage Brabble and a 49 from Hunter Askew. Aadil Amod added a 57 and Daniel Swain rounded out Lawrence’s effort with a74.
Northeast Academy finished fifth during the afternoon, led by a 43 shot by Christian Fleetwood. The Eagles also got a 55 from Dale Davis and a 76 by Matt Little. A 79 was recorded for fourth player from Northeast since the Eagles did not have a full squad.
As for Hobgood, the Raiders were led by dual 45s from Matthew Peaden and Andrew Peaden. Amber Rudd added a 50 for the day’s winners while Luke Kosbzresk had a 58.
Finishing fourth was Terra Ceia Christian School. The knights were led by a 49 from Wayne Howell. Sixth place Pungo Christian Academy was paced by a 52 from Cole Woolard.
The next TIC golf match will be Tuesday at Bayview Country Club, hosted by Terra Ceia Christian. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
