Gates baseball rallies past Aces

EDENTON – Gates County outlasted Edenton 16-15 in extra frames here Monday.
The Aces rallied from a 12-4 deficit to claim the victory in the non-conference baseball game.
Edenton recorded 13 hits over the first four and one-third innings, but Adison Eure came on and shut them down over the rest of the contest. Eure allowed no hits during his three and two-thirds innings of work.
Meanwhile, Gates County scored eight runs in the fifth, added another in the sixth and two in the seventh to force the extra frame. There, Gates County pushed one mark across and that was enough to secure the comeback win.
Senior Graham Hobbs led the Red Barons offensively, going 4-for-4 with a trio of singles and a double. He added four RBIs, scored five runs and drew a base on balls.
Kyle Badgett was 2-for-4 during the afternoon with a pair of singles and three RBIs.
In addition to his pitching prowess, Eure was 4-for-6 at the plate with a trio of singles, a double and a pair of RBIs. On the mound, he struck out five in his three-plus innings of work and allowed to walks.
Gates County improved to 1-2 for the season with the victory.
They will play at Hertford County Friday. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
