Lady Barons top HCHS

GATESVILLE – The Lady Barons beat the Lady Bears of Hertford County 20-4 in softball here Friday.

The Lady Barons dominated the game from the first pitch.

In the first inning, the Lady Barons batted around and scored 11 runs.

Lauren Burgess had three RBI’s in the first inning with a single that scored two runs.

The Lady Bears were set down in order.

In the second inning, the Lady Bears were set down in order again the Lady Barons batted around again and scored eight runs with the key hit coming from Ashley Brown who hit a double and drove in a run.

In the third inning, the Lady Bears scored three runs with a key hit coming from Courtney Malone, who hit a triple and drove in two runs. Also, Bria Freeman had an RBI single to drive in the third run.

The Lady Barons scored their last run in the third inning with a RBI single by Addison Cochran.

In the fourth frame, the Lady Bears got their last run with a RBI single hit by Amber Mornings.

The Lady Barons didn’t hit because game was called due to the mercy rule.

Gates County was led by Ashley Brown who was 2-for-2 with a single and a double and two RBIs along with Lauren Burgess, who was 2-for-2 with two singles and three RBIs. Angel Rodgers was 2-for-2 with two singles and two RBIs.

The Lady Bears were led by Courtney Malone who was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBI’s and Bria Freeman, who checked in at 1-for-1 with a single, an RBI and a walk.

Brittany Eure pitched two solid innings for the Lady Barons allowing no runs and no hits while striking out two.
