Lady Rams advance

TERRA CEIA – Ridgecroft School is moving on.
The Lady Rams topped rival Lawrence Academy 62-12 here Monday night to advance in the Tarheel Independent Conference tournament.
“The girls played well,” Ridgecroft Head Coach Susan Oliver said. “It was a great way to start the tournament.”
Senior Brice Harrison led the way for the Lady Rams, pouring in 20 points during the contest. Hennie Larabee added 13 and Lauren Colson chipped in an even dozen.
Miller Bryant added eight for Ridgecroft while Sara Hackney had five. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Rams were Nikki Smith (2) and Elizabeth Joyner (2).
Holly McNair paced Lawrence with six points while Hayden Thompson added four and Jodie Lawrence had two points.
Ridgecroft jumped out to the early lead in the contest, taking an 18-4 advantage in the first quarter. The Lady Rams outscored Lawrence by an identical mark in the second period and took a 36-8 lead into the intermission.
The Lady Rams continued to pull away in the third quarter, taking a 52-10 lead into the final period.
Ridgecroft, the number two seed in the tournament, advanced to Friday night’s semifinal contest where they will meet the winner of Terra Ceia Christian School and Albemarle School.
The Lady Rams improved to 19-3 with the victory.
JV Girls
In junior varsity girl’s action at the TIC tournament, Ridgecroft also claimed victory over Lawrence.
The jayvee Lady Rams, seeded number three in the tourney, topped sixth seeded Lawrence 34-14.
Ridgecroft led 9-0 after one quarter and held a 15-7 advantage at the intermission before pushing out to a 22-10 lead after three quarters.
Mary-joe Harrell paced the Lady Rams with 13 points while Erin Cooke added 12. Nicole El-Khoury had five for Ridgecroft, Katie Blowe had four points and Emily Grace had two.
Taylor Wilson led the Lady Warriors with 11 points while Sydney Brabble added three.
Ridgecroft (10-6) advanced to Friday’s semifinal where they will meet second-seeded Terra Ceia.
