‘Crossroads’ launches Saturday

AHOSKIE – It’s back!

“Crossroads” – an annual special section printed by Roanoke-Chowan Publications – begins in Saturday’s (Feb. 5) edition. This year’s theme is “All in a day’s work” and focuses on the jobs performed daily by the hard-working citizens of the Roanoke-Chowan area.

Crossroads – 2011 will be inserted into each Saturday edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald during the month of February (5, 12, 19, 26) and the next four Wednesday editions of the Gates County Index (Feb. 9, 16 and 23 and March 2).

Also returning this year to Crossroads is a way for readers to earn $500. “Find Brian’s Booty” (loot) is a contest exclusive to the weekly printings of this special section. Brian Pavlick, Advertising Director for Roanoke-Chowan Publications (and a “wanna-be” pirate) has hidden his loot at a location within the Roanoke-Chowan area.

No digging is necessary to find Brian’s “booty.” In each of the four Crossroads editions, readers can piece together a photo puzzle. As the photo pieces fall into place, those wishing the guess the subject matter can fill out the entry blank accompanying the “Find Brian’s Booty” ad and either mail it in or drop it off at the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald office, located at the intersection of Main Street and Catherine Creek Road in downtown Ahoskie. Office hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays.

No photocopies of the entry blank will be accepted. No purchase is required. Game pieces are available at the R-C News-Herald office (one game piece is available per week, per visit).

All correct answers to what is shown in the photograph will be placed in a secured box from where one will be randomly chosen as the winner of $500. The answer must be specific to who, what or where as pertaining to the photo.

Mail entry blanks to “Find Brian’s Booty”, c/o Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, PO Box 1325, Ahoskie, NC 27910. All entries must be received (or postmarked) by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8.

There is no limit on the number of entries submitted by one person. However, all entrants must be at least 18 years of age.

Employees of Roanoke-Chowan Publications, LLC and their families are not eligible to enter.

Be sure to pick-up a copy of each Saturday’s edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald or Wednesday’s Gates County Index over the next four weeks for your chance to win $500. Look for the ad inside the Crossroads special section.
