MERRY HILL – Lawrence Academy claimed its first win in the Tarheel Independent Conference Tuesday night.
The Warriors’ varsity boy’s basketball team downed visiting Northeast Academy 64-24 in the TIC opener for both teams.
Lawrence outscored Northeast in every quarter, beginning with a 13-4 spurt in the first period. They led 29-9 at the intermission and 45-18 after three quarters.
Leading the way for the Warriors was Travis Whitehead, who scored 23 points during the outing. Lawrence also got 11 from Willie Bass and seven each from Trace Larabee and Chase Sevens.
Hunter Askew chipped in six for the Warriors while Jesse White and Darren Armstrong had four each. Ryan Bailey added two.
Northeast was paced by six points from Brad Johnson and five from Will Glover. Davis Harrell and Clay Robbins added four points each.
