Gates, Ridgecroft host playoff matches

Two local teams will continue their playoff runs today (Tuesday).
Ridgecroft School’s varsity soccer team will play at home in the second round of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association playoffs at 4 p.m.
The Rams, seeded number one overall in the tournament, will host Davidson Day School.
Friday, Ridgecroft downed number 16 seed Lawrence Academy by a final score of 8-0 to advance. Davidson moved to round two by defeating number nine seed Wayne Christian School 3-2.
The match will be held today (Tuesday) at the Mike Bryant Soccer Field.
Also playing in the second round of the playoffs will be Gates County High School.
The Lady Red Barons’ volleyball team will host Perquimans County High School in the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association playoffs.
Gates County (20-2) is the number one seed from the Tar-Roanoke Conference. They will host Perquimans (16-5) who is the number two seeded team from the Four Rivers Conference.
The Red Barons reached the second round by downing South Creek High School 3-0 on Friday while Perquimans topped Northampton County High School – East 3-0 on Saturday.
The status of two Lady Barons players – seniors Monica Bond and Danielle Adams – are still in question due to injury. Bond has been battling a hip condition all season and Adams injured her ankle on Friday.
First serve will be at 6 p.m.
