AHOSKIE –  The Gallery Theatre, located on 115 West Main Street, Ahoskie, will host a benefit concert for Bertie County tornado victims.  The date is set for June 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Performers include top headliners such as Milton Bullock (The Golden Platter), The Rocky Hock Players (The Emmerich Family), Darryl Stallings (song stylist), Steadfast (gospel music), The Chowan River Boys (country/gospel), The Gospel Impressions (gospel), The Andrews Sisters (WWII hits of the Andrews Sisters), Sue Tripp (Gallery Favorite), Susan Knowles, and Mary Frances Taylor (Bertie County natives).

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to those who have been impacted by the tornados. The Bertie Chamber of Commerce will be receiving the money raised and will dispense the funds according to their guidelines.

Organizer for the event, Karen Knowles, is asking for help from area businesses and individuals. Sponsorships start at $100 and recognition will be given in the concert program.  Donations can be sent to The Gallery Theatre, P. O. Box 521, Ahoskie, NC 27910.

The event needs individually wrapped “goodies” and drinks for concessions as well as people to work the concessions.  A cake auction will also be done, so those who have great cake recipes, here’s your chance to help out!

Admission to the concert will be FREE! All performers are generously offering their time and talent to help tornado victims.  Seats will be first come, first served, so get there early to assure your seat! Some of the performing groups will be selling their CD’s and donating a portion to the fund.

A love offering will be taken during the event. Organizers are hoping for a big turnout and a large offering that can make a difference in people’s lives who have lost so much.

“This will be an outstanding concert with a variety of music,” said Ralph Hewitt, Director of the Gallery Theatre. “Don’t miss out on this one time concert and an opportunity to help our community.”

If you or your business would care to be a sponsor, call The Gallery Theatre at 252-332-2976 for more information. Also, the Gallery can put you in touch with organizer Karen Knowles.

“Come on Bertie, Hertford, Gates and all surrounding areas, let’s make a difference! Let’s come together and help each other and have a wonderful time doing it,” Hewitt added.
