Two local towns will provide a visual celebration of the Independence Day Holiday.

The town of Windsor and the town of Ahoskie will each hold Independence Day celebrations that will include fireworks and fun for the entire family.

Windsor’s celebration is slated for Saturday, July 3 and will be held at the Roanoke-Cashie River Center. It is sponsored by the town of Windsor and the Windsor/Bertie County Chamber of Commerce.

“We welcome everyone to take part in this tremendous celebration of our nation’s Independence,” said Bertie Chamber Executive Director Collins Cooper. “This is always fun for the entire family.”

Festivities are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will include live music by Milton Bullock and the music of DJ Collins Cooper.

Concessions will be available as well as craft vendors.

Boat rides will be available through the Roanoke-Cashie River Center during the afternoon.

Fireworks are planned to begin at nightfall.

The Town of Ahoskie will host its annual Independence Day Festival from 5-10 p.m. on Sunday, July 4 at Hertford County High School.

“Ahoskie’s annual celebration of Independence Day is always a fun time for the entire family,” Ahoskie Mayor Linda Blackburn said. “We look forward to gathering at Hertford County High School to celebrate our nation’s independence.”

The event features music, games and food, including barbecue, hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks.

The annual July 4th fireworks show begins at 9:15 p.m.
