AHOSKIE, NC – Betty Jean McKeel Bell, age 78, of Ahoskie, passed away on May 24, 2019 at the Ahoskie House of Ahoskie, NC.

She was born on October 26, 1940 to Samuel Herbert and Vidas Blowe McKeel in Hertford County, NC. Betty spent her life taking care of her home and family. She was a member of Early’s Baptist Church.

Betty cherished Elvis Presley, taking every opportunity she had to see impersonators, listening to his music, or collecting all the memorabilia she could find. Betty loved traveling. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend that will be deeply missed by all that know her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Bell, Sr.; her son, James Donald Bell, Jr.; and her sisters, Lois Clark and Mattie Daughtry.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Bell and Wanda Bell Perry and husband Donnis, both of Ahoskie; two sons, John Bell and wife Kirsten of Fredericksburg, VA, and David Bell and wife Ellen of Ahoskie; two granddaughters, Alyssa Bell and Amanda Feher and husband Ricky; and grandson, Jim Perry; two great-granddaughters, Alli Feher and Abby Feher; two brothers, Freddie and Richard McKeel; and sister, Ethelene Hoggard.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Troy Bordeaux officiating and burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
