COLERAIN, NC – Osbourne McDonald “Donnie” Highsmith, Sr., 87, of Wakelon Road, Colerain, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his home. He was born in Pitt County September 5, 1931 to the late William Barry and Stella Adams Highsmith.

Donnie was a retired state trooper with the NC Highway Patrol. He was a member Deacon of Ross Baptist Church and a former Mason.

Funeral services were held Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Ross Baptist Church. Dr. Jeffery Russell officiated.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cobb Highsmith of the home; daughter, Donna H. Mizelle and husband Dean; son Don Highsmith, Jr.; grandchildren, Sawyer and Summer Mizelle, all of Colerain; sisters, Betty Lou Deans of Greenville, and Faye Rogerson of La Plata, MD; and a brother, Billy Highsmith of Winterville.
