Greenville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a call of armed robbery of a person at 2601 Whitaker Drive in the city.  At the residence, after officers obtained further information, it was determined the caller had been robbed at gun point of a cell phone and several other items.

A description of the suspects, along with that of the vehicle, was given and a short time later an officer observed a vehicle matching the description backed into a space in the parking lot at Pops Old Fashioned Cheeseburgers, located at 1011 So. Charles Boulevard. The vehicle was confirmed to be that involved in the armed robbery based on the license plate number provided by witnesses.

At the same time, another GPD officer observed a group of three males matching the description of the suspects on 11th Street near Charles Boulevard. As officers approached the subjects, and other police units responded to the area, the suspects quickly took off on foot with the officers in pursuit.

Meanwhile, a fourth subject had been standing near the vehicle, and he also ran from the area of the car.

Officers apprehended all four suspects quickly, and without incident, with the assistance of the other responding units.

Officers said during the arrests a search located three firearms, one of which had been stolen.

Currently being held are Nykel Watson, age 20; 21-year-old Shyki Mitchell and Daquan Outlaw,19, all of Windsor. The three were charged with conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Cherry had the additional charges listed above. They are each being held in lieu of $200,000 bail in the Pitt County Detention center.

Shawn Cherry, 17, also of Windsor, was also charged in the armed robbery and faces additional charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of a stolen firearm. He is being held at the same facility in lieu of $325,000 bail.
