WINDSOR – Two Bertie County men are in custody after an early Sunday morning shooting here at a restaurant parking lot.

Earl Ali Bunch, 32, of 104 Roberts Court, Lewiston, was taken into custody in Tarboro on Monday, Oct. 28 by the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, according to Windsor Police Chief Justin Jackson. Bunch has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and was transported back to Bertie County that same day and held at the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail. Bunch made his first appearance in District Court on Wednesday.

Also charged is Antonio Bond of 402 Cedar Court in Windsor. Bond is charged with accessory after the fact and attempted murder. Jackson said Bond was taken into custody by Windsor Police on Monday and was also held at the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under $100,000 secured bond.

According to the Chief, Bertie Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call Sunday morning around 2:50 a.m. of a report there had been a shooting earlier in the parking area of the Windsor Golden Skillet – formerly Little Mint – restaurant on Granville Street. When authorities arrived, an unnamed subject was bleeding on the ground from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The subject – who has not been identified – was transported first to Vidant Bertie Hospital and later to Vidant Regional Medical Center in Greenville. As of Wednesday he is listed in stable condition, according to Jackson.

Bond also had his first court appearance on Wednesday.
