‘Shine, pot seized

AULANDER – Months of investigative work paid off here Friday with two arrests on illegal booze and drug charges.

A search warrant served at a residence located at 405 Chestnut Street in Aulander turned up nontax paid alcoholic beverages (moonshine), marijuana, and drug paraphernalia (packaging materials).

As a result of that discovery, Bertie Sheriff John Holley said that Ronnie L. Futrell and Draquan Akeem Harrell

were placed under arrest.

Futrell was charged with three counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, three counts of maintaining a dwelling being used to keep or sell controlled substances, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of possess/sell nontax paid alcoholic beverages, and four counts of possess for sell alcoholic beverages with no permit.

Futrell was held under a $20,000 secured bond.

Harrell stands charged with possess/sell nontax paid alcoholic beverages, and possess for sell alcoholic beverages with no permit. He was held under a $2,000 secured bond.

Sheriff Holley stated that BSO Sgt. Martin Phelps and ALE Agent Kris Johnson had been investigating this case for three months prior to obtaining the search warrants.

Once the warrants were obtained they were served by Phelps, Johnson, Bertie Sheriff’s Office deputies, agents with the Down East Drug Task Force, and the Aulander Police Dept.
