Selma J. Lanier

CONWAY – Selma Lee Johnson Lanier, 92, a native of Conway, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi.

A Legal Secretary, Miss Selma Lee worked in the Law Offices of  Edgar Martin, Bruce Johnson, and then retired from the office of Tom Jones, Jr. Miss Selma loved her Zion United Methodist Church and, as its oldest member, was very involved in church activities.  She taught Sunday School for many years and was Secretary of the United Methodist Women for a very long time.  Miss Selma also loved to travel, developing many friendships on Tour Bus trips she enjoyed taking and she looked forward to family trips to the beach.

Miss Selma was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward “Bud” Lanier; parents, Junius Milton Johnson and Eula Mae Davis Johnson; and daughter, Glenda Lanier Vick.  Survivors include two daughters, Connie Lanier Troutman and husband, Jim, of Nags Head, and Sheryl Lanier Bridgers and husband, Marty, of Conway; four grandchildren, Tammy Vick, Brian Martin, Jonathan Martin, and Lauren Bridgers; and three great grandchildren, Emmalee Hoyle, Allyson Martin, and Nathan Martin.

The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Monday, October 5, and the funeral service for Miss Selma Lee will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Susanne Cobb presiding.  Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
