MURFREESBORO — A routine traffic stop turned up drugs here early Friday morning.

According to Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe, at approximately 2:02 a.m. MPD Officer Adam Benton conducted a vehicle stop.

“As Officer Benton approached the vehicle he observed the two rear passengers attempting to hide something in their pockets and under the seats,” said Chief Rowe.

Upon Hertford County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Oliver responding for back up, Rowe said the officers removed the two passengers and patted them down for weapons.

“During the pat down, Devon Jordan was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana,” said Rowe.

The other passenger searched, Nsonji Sessoms, was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.

Rowe said the two men were taken into custody and transported to the Murfreesboro Police Department for processing.

“Once at the Murfreesboro Police Department it was found Devon Jordan was still in possession of crack cocaine which was hidden in the crotch of his pants,” he said.

Rowe said a total of 35.5 grams crack cocaine and 1.5 grams of marijuana was found on the suspects.

Jordan and Sessoms, both of Horne Road, were each charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine and possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

Jordan was placed in the Hertford County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.

Sessoms was placed in the Hertford County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Rowe thanked Sheriff Juan Vaughan for his office’s assistance, saying that it proved when law enforcement agencies work together they can make an impact.
