William Arthur Bazemore, 81, of Thompson Street, Windsor, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bertie County, he was retired from the Town of Windsor and a member and deacon of Edgewood Baptist Church. He was one of the first members of the Bertie County Rescue Squad and served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen Barnes Bazemore of Windsor; a son, Dennis Bazemore of Windsor; two sisters, Helen B. Copeland of Windsor and Bessie Umcheid of Milford Iowa; and a brother, Roy C. Bazemore Sr. of Askewville.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Burial will take place in Edgewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from their home.
