Suspect sought in Garysburg shooting

GARYSBURG – A 21 year-old suspect is being sought in a March 3 shooting that resulted in the injury of a Garysburg man.

Jarmarcus Ingram was taken to Halifax Regional Hospital and underwent surgery to remove one of the bullets that were allegedly fired into the residence, striking him in the lower right portion of his abdominal region.

According to Detective Brenda Burnette of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, three to four shots were allegedly fired into the residence of Marvin High, located at 280 George Lane off Calfloyd Road in Garysburg.

&uot;It seems that the shots were fired from a small caliber automatic handgun,&uot; Burnette said.

Officers were dispatched to the scene following an emergency 9-1-1 call that reported gunshots at approximately 11:23 p.m. the night of the alleged crime.

&uot;Right now, we are not able to determine the motive of the shooting, but we do know that the victim and the suspect knew each other,&uot; Burnette said, noting that the suspect was identified by one of the individuals who saw him through the window of the residence during the time the incident occurred.

Jerome Scott of 238 Turner Lane in Garysburg is being sought as the suspect in the alleged crime. He faces charges of discharging a weapon into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
