AULANDER – Mr. Linwood Franklin Conner, Sr., age 79, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 atPittMemorialHospitalinGreenville.

Mr. Conner was married to Rachel Faye Matthews Conner on July 19, 1955.  To this marriage was born six wonderful children.

As a child he was a member of the Aulander Firecracker Baseball Team.  Mr. Conner attended theMillenniumPentecostalHolinessChurch.  He worked at the shipyard inNewport News,VAand also worked at Planters Peanut Company for a number years. Mr. Conner farmed the family farm for fifty plus years alongside his family until retiring.  He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping.  He was a loving and dedicated, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Carrie Dempsey Conner and Vernon Cherry Conner; his wife, Rachel Faye Conner; one sister, Jamie Elizabeth Conner; three brothers, J.C., Cohen and William Conner; and one grandson, Michael Warren Robinson.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Conner Stephenson and her husband, David, of Dunn and Melinda Conner Fowler and her husband, Jerry Lynn, of Aulander; four sons, Linwood “Frankie” Conner, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, David Conner and his wife, Lynne, and Donnie Conner and his wife, Ellen, all of Aulander, and Ronnie Conner and his wife, Wanda, of Hamilton; and four sisters, Barbara Jean Taylor of Woodruff, SC, Betty Mizelle of Aulander, Marilyn Daniels and her husband, Jimmy, of Ahoskie and Elva Dean Burden and her husband, Jack, of Aulander. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Andy Robinson, Paula R. Sorrentino, Victoria Dixon, Lin and Daniel Conner, Matt and Nick Cobb, Kelsie and Clint Conner, Carl and Brittany Conner, Brandy Harris, Kristin Bowen and Tammi Griggs.  Also surviving are ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at theMillenniumPentecostalHolinessChurchin Aulander with the Rev. Taylor Latham officiating.  The interment will follow at theAulanderCemetery.
