AHOSKIE – Two games – very different outcomes.

Thursday night, Ahoskie American Legion Post 102’s Junior Team defeated Edenton 10-7 to stay unbeaten in conference play.

Sunday night the two teams met in a non-conference affair and Edenton turned the tables with a 12-7 victory.

Ahoskie opened the scoring with six runs in the bottom of the first frame Sunday.

Ryan Lilley walked and went to third on a Shawn Holloway double to right. Lilly scored on a wild pitch to get the first run across.

Holloway then scored on an Austin Britton ground rule double to left-centerfield.

After Nathan Pearce was hit by a pitch, Darren Armstrong laced an RBI-single to left to score Britton. Cody Ambrose then had an infield single to load the bases.

Pearce came home on a wild pitch and then both Armstrong and Ambrose scored on a Brock Meher two-run double to left, giving Post 102 a 6-0 lead.

Ahoskie added another run in the bottom of the second stanza.

Holloway was hit by a pitch and stole second. He went to third on a Britton sacrifice fly and scored on a Pearce RBI-groundout to give Ahoskie a 7-0 lead.

Unfortunately, the wheels came off after the second as Edenton scored two in the third, nine in the fourth and one in the fifth to secure the 12-7 win.

Ahoskie used five pitchers including Kyle Freeman, Jim Porter, Petey Boone, Armstrong and Meher.

Holloway, Britton and Meher led Post 102 with two hits each. The team had eight total.

Edenton had seven hits led by three from Trace Buck.

Ahoskie dropped to 3-4 overall heading into a home doubleheader at 5 p.m. Thursday with Nash Central.
