Wallace is new Mayor Pro-Tem

Murfreesboro chose Sarah Wallace (right) as the new Mayor Pro-Tem following the death of Molly Eubank recently. Wallace received the Oath of Office from Murfreesboro Mayor John Hinton.
MURFREESBORO—Sarah Wallace has been chosen to succeed the late Molly Eubank in the role of Mayor Pro-Tem.
Wallace’s fellow Murfreesboro Town Council members voted her into the position Tuesday.
Mayor John Hinton opened the council meeting by asking those in the audience to take a moment of silence in a show of respect for Eubank, who died July 30.
After briefly speaking with town attorney Buddy Jones, the council decided to open the floor to nominations for Mayor Pro-Tem.
Councilwoman Gloria Odum offered Wallace’s name and no other nominations were received. The council voted unanimously for Wallace to take the position, with Councilman Lloyd Hill absent from the meeting.
“Mrs. Wallace congratulations, you are now Mayor Pro-Tem,” said Hinton.
“Thank you very much,” Wallace responded.
Hinton then proceeded with the oath of office.
Eubank was in her second term on the council as Mayor Pro-Tem at the time of her death. In addition, she served as clerk for the Town of Como for approximately 20 years. She previously worked for the Town of Murfreesboro for approximately 23 years in the positions of town administrator and town clerk.
