BELHAVEN – Northeast Academy’s varsity volleyball team got on the winning track here Thursday.

The Lady Eagles rallied back from a first-set deficit to sweep Pungo Christian Academy three sets to none and claimed their first Tarheel Independent Conference victory of the season.

“We had an amazing comeback in the first set,” said Eagles’ skipper Cap Pfeiffer. “We were down 12-1 and eventually trailed 16-4 before we turned it around thanks to the serving of Molly Hargrave and Cameron Flythe.”

The Lady Eagles rallied to win the first set 25-22 and then took set two 25-18 and cruised to a 25-8 win in the third set.

“Everyone worked well together,” Pfeiffer said. “There was great chemistry.”

Lacy Pfeiffer had four kills to go along with two digs and one ace while Flythe had one ace and one tip. Lauren Edwards and Meghan Bridgers added one kill each.

“Our serving was excellent today,” the coach said. “Our comeback was led by nine straight points from Molly and Jennifer and then Kelly finished up with 10 consecutive points.”
