MURFREESBORO – A 15-year-old juvenile is a suspect in a deadly shooting here this afternoon (Thursday).
The shooting occurred at a residence on Buena Vista Drive in Wise’s Mobile Home Park. It was there that Andrew Lee Peele was shot and killed inside the residence.
Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes was the first on the scene, saying he found Peele on the floor of the residence.
“He was non-responsive and had no pulse when I arrived,” Hayes said.
Hayes added that the shooter had fled the residence immediately after shooting Peele.
“From what we’ve been able to gather thus far, there was some sort of altercation between the juvenile and Mr. Peele that led to the juvenile pulling a weapon and fatally shooting Mr. Peele,” Hayes said.
Hayes stated that the juvenile turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office shortly before 7 p.m.
“He [the juvenile] is still a suspect at this point,” Hayes said. “If it’s determined that he is indeed the shooter, we will seek a petition from Juvenile Services that will formally charge him with first-degree murder.”
Hayes added that no motive for the murder had been established as of 7 p.m. today.
He said that Peele resided at Wise’s Mobile Home Park, but not where the deadly shooting took place.
