HARRISBURG, NC – Alma Outlaw Peele, age 96, formerly of Ahoskie, went to be with her Lord and savior on Monday, May 1, 2023 at her home with her daughter.

Mrs. Peele was born on August 29, 1926 to Jack and Hosanna Harrington Outlaw in Hertford County, NC. Alma was a devoted Christian member of Millennium Pentecostal Church and visited Laurel Baptist Church since living in Harrisburg. She loved her Lord, her church, and especially her family. She was the sweetest soul who always told it like it was and stood strong in her faith, her beliefs, and her family. Alma was always there to lend a hand whenever possible. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, anything with her hands as long as her health permitted. Also, reading and word search puzzles. In later years she acquired a pleasure in painting by number on her tablet. She always had to be done with dinner by Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune time in the evening. Alma cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Alma was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lloyd Thomas “Sonny” Peele; her sister, Carleen Jones; and brothers, Shirley, Jack, and Jasper “Jap” Outlaw.

Left to cherish Alma’s memory is her two daughters, Evelyn Peele Smith and husband Lee of Harrisburg, NC, and Terri Peele White and husband Stewart of Rock Hill, SC; her son, Bennett Peele and wife Jeanette of Conway, NC; five grandchildren, Kenneth Willoughby (Carmen), Stephanie Thomas (Mike), Kelly Vann (Heath), Lindsey Winburn (Steve), and Kelsey White; four step-grandchildren, Erica Slaughter (Jason), Ethan Bryant, Brad Smith (Jordan), and Amber Lathan (Randy); eleven great grandchildren, Dakota and Thorne Willoughby, Brandon, Blake, and Taylor Thomas, Hailey Story, Dalton and Dawson Vann, Jackson, Ellie, and Lane Winburn; six great great grandchildren, Dawson, Rosie, Rowan, Kellan, Vaylen, and Oaklynn; her best friend, Nancy Outlaw; along with many friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 5, 2023, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery
