AHOSKIE – Kendred Clay Williams, age 86, of US Hwy 13, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Williams was born on March 1, 1934 to Henry Clay Williams and Lois Dilday Williams in Bertie County, North Carolina. Kendred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a devoted member of Powellsville Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially squirrel hunting with his dogs, Dolly and Penny. Kendred had a passion for collecting arrow heads. He was a talented farmer that cherished his time tending the land, always working hard to provide for his family. Kendred liked to stay close to home. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Williams, and a sister, Janiceteen Duncan.

Kendred is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne; son, Kendred “Kent” Clay Williams Jr. and wife Sandra of Powellsville; two daughters, Melody Futrell and husband Robbie of Powellsville, and Elayne Eure and husband James of Winton; four grandsons, Clay Henry Williams of Powellsville, Justin Futrell and wife Kristin of Murfreesboro, Adison Eure and wife Courtney of Powellsville, and Cole Eure of Winton; two granddaughters, Megan Phelps and husband Justin of Powellsville, and Ashley Davis and husband Matt of Powellsville; five great-granddaughters, Kinley, Lexie, and Hunter Phelps, Eva Rose, and Ada Mae Davis; two great-grandsons, Reid Futrell, and Jackson Davis; a sister, Annette Glosson of Burlington; and his fur baby, Biscuit; and with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, November 10, 2020 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Matt Miles officiating.

A special heartfelt thank you to Kendred’s special caregivers, Eunice Bond, Sherry Felton, and Ruth Bazemore for their love and dedicated care for him during his illness.
