CONWAY, NC – Jake Harrell Odom, 94, of Conway passed away on Friday, June 4, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after a brief illness.

He had been preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Vann Odom; his parents, Jacob “Jake” Winborn Odom and his mother, Lucy Freeman Martin Odom. Also, preceding him in death are three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Odom was an outdoors man who loved to fox hunt, bird hunt and fish, especially with his “buddies” whenever they could get together. By profession, Mr. Odom had worked for 31 years as a Power Operator for the Hercules Company, Inc. in Franklin, VA. Also, he was a member of Conway Baptist Church.

Mr. Odom is survived by one son, Jeffery H. Odom of Severn; two daughters, Terry Odom Martin and her husband, Tim, of Milwaukee NC, and Cheryl Odom Chappell and special friend, Keith King Sr. of Suffolk, VA; three grandchildren, Kimberly Crutchlow and husband, Anthony, Kristen Martin, and Summer Arendell and husband Dwight; great grandchildren, Wyatt Crutchlow and Ashton Arendell; and a sister, Edith Vann Smith of Roanoke Rapids.

A graveside service for Mr. Odom will be held in the Town of Conway Cemetery at a later date with the Rev. Willie McLawhorn presiding.
